Edinburgh's History - The Flodden Wall Guided Tour
This virtual tour takes you around Edinburgh's fascinating Flodden and Telfer Walls. We like to call it an 'Interactive Guided Tour' because it is really so much more than a simple virtual tour! This is a multimedia approach to a usually forgotten part of Edinburgh's history.
Unlike York or Chester, many visitors don't realise that Edinburgh still has some of it's medieval walls left. There are large sections left and the story of the Flodden and Telfer Walls is one which gives you a great understanding of Edinburgh's history itself. The actual walk aroudis only around 20 minutes but we ensure that you'll take a little longer and truly soak in the details. Why rush around missing things when you can explore with knowledge and understanding?

The Flodden and King's Walls
Edinburgh Castle acts as a superb starting point for our first guided tour and we go down to the base of the Castle Crag to the site of the start of the early King's Wall. From there we go on to the famous Grassmarket, one-time haunt of Burke and Hare, and on to the only remaining tower in the Vennel. We will explore the remains of the Flodden Wall in the world-famous Greyfriars Kirkyard and learn about the tragedy of the Covenanter prisoners who were kept in a yard between the Flodden and Telfer Walls.
Flodden Wall Guided Tour 2
The Telfer Wall
In our next tour we will go back to the Vennel and follow the Telfer Wall until it rejoins with its larger forerunner at the old Bristo Port. We will finish at the Potterrow Port.

Our third and final tour heads along past the Old Quadrangle of Edinburgh University and across the South Bridge.
