Chester's History - The City Walls Guided Tour Screenshot Gallery
The pictures on this page were taken from the 360 degree panoramic photos used in this CD-ROM. These simple little stills show the level of detail you will enjoy in our "Chester's History - The City Walls Guided Tour". Remember, what you see here is a tiny part of each scene and that there are far more scenes than the few shown below. This page acts as a screenshot tour rather than the glorious virtual tour which will be your guide around Chester.

We start our tour at the Eastgate Clock - one of the most photographed and recognisable objects in Chester.
The tour of Chester's City Walls takes in many important locations on the route. Here we can see the Newgate looming in the distance.
Newgate dwarfs the far more interesting Wolfgate and it is through the Wolfgate that we can find remains of the Roman fortifications of old Chester.
This section of the wall saw some of the fiercest fighting during the English Civil War struggle for Chester.
Here we can see the River Dee from the walls.
The execution spot in the Grassmarket.
One of the best preserved remains along the wall is Bonewaldesthorne's Tower. This overlooks the Water Tower.
We pass the intriguingly named Pemberton's Parlour...
before coming to the Bridge of Sighs.
The view from the Northgate down to the Shropshire Union Canal gives us a real understanding of just how well fortified Chester was.
We pass the Phoenix, or King Charles, Tower. The unfortunate monarch watched the rout of his army by Parliamentarian forces at the Battle of Rowton Heath.
We come to the Kaleyards Gate. This is located only a few metres away from our original starting point at the Eastgate Clock.
